The Diy Upcycled Refashioned Crocheted Vest

Easy

Just like my upcycled doily top this funky vest required zero crochet knowledge but it looks like I could have spent hours with the crochet hook creating the delicate pattern.

Here’s how I really created this pretty vintage style vest:

I started with a faded denim vest that had been skulking at the bottom of my stash for way too long.

Then I snagged my trusty bleach.

Tossed the vest in a 50/50 bleach and water mixture and let it soak overnight.

et voila! A no-longer-faded-black vest but still not at all lovely enough to wear as is.

I sifted through my pile of vintage lace and discovered this pretty little crocheted tablecloth (which I had previously dyed from dingy white to a fabulous turquoise colour).

I sliced it in half and pinned a piece to each side of the front of the vest.

Chopped off the excess fabric.

Sewed it on with a tight zigzag stitch.

Then I stitched a couple of the remaining crocheted rosette-scraps to the collar, replaced the rivets with some fancy vintage buttons and added a little something to the back too!

Are you diggin’ my fancy new to me vest?

Well done and thank you for sharing. This could so easily have turned out looking, wellllll, cheap. I have looked, and your vest does not resemble any of Joe Browns vests that I have seen. This is another way to add lace to denim and it really is original. :) 👍️♥️
