I've got the best project to share with you, it's a simple but beautiful lace overlay, which is guaranteed to elevate any dress or top out of the ordinary and into the sublime!

The lace is so gorgeous, heavily beaded and sequined with the most elaborate border, which I was determined to utilize!

I lined up the back and front pattern pieces exactly onto the bottom of the lace, this ensured the beautiful border would be the perfect lower edge to my gorgeous top. By folding the fabric and placing the pattern piece on the fold, the back and front are cut in one piece, this means the back and front need no fastenings.

I added little bust darts, giving a little fitted touch to the front.

The sleeves were cut also along the edge of the border which meant I got that fabulous border along the lower edge of the bracelet length sleeve.

Once the sleeves were cut, they were stitched into a tube shape with right sides together.

The front and back were then stitched together at the shoulders and side seams before the sleeves were eased into the armscye.

There we go, all done!! Here I'm wearing it over a strappy purple top and black jeans, quite casual and yet so stylish for a Christmas party!!

My second and fancier outfit featuring this beautiful lace top is as an overlay for my blue satin mother of the groom outfit!! Here you can see the outfit complete with hat!!

I'm absolutely thrilled with the little lace overlay, it is tasteful enough to wear for a wedding, beautiful and demure. But its definitely got a lot of longevity and it can so many times in years to come, with different tops and dresses!!
