Today, I’m going to show you my 4-in-1 workout hairstyles. I still want to look cute when going to the gym, but of course, I want to have my hair off my face while working out.

Why have I called this a 4-in-1 gym hairstyle? Because the top stays the same, I just do different styles around the face. Want to see how I do it? Keep reading!

Tools and materials:

  • Hair elastics
  • Hair ties
  • Hair clips
  • Bobby pins
  • Brush
  • Spiral hair tie
  • Hairspray
Brushing hair up

Workout hairstyle 1

Before we start, I do recommend doing these hairstyles on second-day hair. It’s best not to do these workout hairstyles on clean, first-day hair. Start by combing your hair and brushing all of it up.

Tying hair in a high ponytail

Take a hair elastic and tie it around three times. Next, pull the pony up a bit by pulling the loose strands. Pull out the front bits to get some height.

Then, keep pulling the ponytail forward. I really like having height on top, like a pineapple on top of my head.

Creating volume at the top

My natural part is in the front because I have a cowlick. However, I keep pulling until I have my desired height.

Pulling out baby hairs from the sides

Pull out baby hairs from the sides if you don’t want your forehead to be bare.

Workout hairstyle from the back

Next, brush through the top part and add some hairspray.

Simple workout hairstyle

And this is my first workout hairstyle!

Clipping the back of the hair

If your hair falls out at the back, you can simply clip those strands in place.

Parting the front section to the side

Workout hairstyle 2

For the next hairstyle, start by parting the front to the side.

Leaving the front loose and tying the back

Then, leave the front loose and section the back.

Braiding the bangs

Braid your bangs starting from the side.

French braiding bangs to the side

This hairstyle is probably the most difficult of the four. You have to know how to braid your hair, and I’m not the best at braiding either!

Often, I’m not happy with my braiding; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Essentially, you want to pick up hair as you go along. Put the strands together when going down the braid.

Tying the end with a clear hair elastic

Tie the end with a clear hair elastic.

Pulling out the strands gently

Now, start pulling out the strands gently. Remember to pull from both sides of the braid. Like this, your braid will look thicker.

Pinning the braid under the hair

Pin your braid under your hair with either a bobby pin or hair clip.

Covering the end with hair

Like this, when you put your hair up, you can cover it.

Tying hair into a high ponytail

Tie up the rest of your hair in a high ponytail and brush it out, too. Try not to brush through your braid, though.

Creating volume at the front

To give the whole hairstyle some volume, push your ponytail forward and pull out bits of hair in front. Play around as needed.

Pulling baby hairs out

Again, pull a few of your front baby hairs out.

Cute hairstyles for workouts

Here’s my second cute hairstyle for the gym!

Unbraiding the bangs

Workout hairstyle 3

Onto the third hairstyle. Leave in the high ponytail and unbraid your hair. Or, if your hair is not braided, tie your pony high up and leave the bangs loose.

Twisting the bangs

Then, take the loose section of hair and twist it.

Pulling out pieces for volume

Pull the front bits out for a voluminous effect.

Tucking the end and clipping in place

Tuck the end of the bangs on the side of your head and clip to secure.

Easy hairstyles for the gym

This easy hairstyle for the gym is great for those who aren’t good at braiding. It’s easier and more versatile.

Parting bangs

Workout hairstyle 4

For the last one, you want to wear your hair up again in a high, ponytail. Part your bangs where your natural part is.

Cute hairstyles for gym

I decided to take my hair down since I had too much hair in the front. I retied my ponytail and pulled it forward. For me, the most difficult part is to pull and bring my hair forward in a way that I’m happy with.

Tip: You don’t always have to pull your hair up in front. This really depends on your face shape and what you prefer.

Tucking the front bits behind the ears

Now, take the front bits and tuck them behind your ears.

Securing with hair pins

Clip the ends with a hair pin.

Workout hairstyles

I probably use this fourth hairstyle the most. The clips keep my hair in place without any strands falling over my face all the time.

I'll try, but I so lack in volume. To me it's easier to throw it up into A messy bun or a fan bun or a loose half up bun style.
