Easy Reformation Inspired Crop Top Set

Today I will show you how to easily make a crop top and skirt set inspired by Reformation dress that I found online. You will be satisfied with the finish garments and your pockets will be happy. All you need is a dress that has an elastic waistline for you to be able to recreate this clever DIY set.

Step 1

You will need a dress with elastic waistline. I got mine at Burlington Coat Factory, it was very inexpensive. You can also use an old dress that you don't wear any more and give it a makeover.

Step 2

Separate the bodice from the skirt. I cut it below the elastic waistline, giving it at least 1 inch seam allowance. Cut it one layer at a time to ensure that the seam allowance is even.

Step 3

Hem the bodice by double rolling it.

Step 4

Hem it and don't forget for back stitch so the thread will not un ravel. Also do not sew over the elastic.

Step 5

Now the crop top is done! It's time to work on the skirt.

Step 6

Create a channel for the elastic. I will use 1 inch wide elastic since I already have it on hand. Simply fold in 1/4 inch from the top edge of the waistline then fold 1 inch again to hide the raw edge.

Step 7

To figure out how long the elastic should be, just wrap the elastic around your waistline then add 1/2 inch seam allowance. I like my skirt high waisted and plus if you are wearing crop top high waist is essential so it looks flattering.

Step 8

Be sure to leave an opening so you can feed the elastic through the channel.

Step 10

Place a safety pin on the edge of the elastic then feed it through the channel until you reached the other end.

Step 10

Sew and secure the elastic and be sure that it's not twisted when you do this.

Step 11

Close the drive and don't forget to back stitch to make sure that the thread will not unravel.

Finish

This sewing project took me less than 10 minutes to make, it is so easy and perfect clothes recycling idea.
