Okay, fine. So this started out for my 3-year-old daughter. But they are so freaking adorable that I would wear them myself! This project will literally take you five minutes to do, and you’ll end up with these incredible tiny velvet bows. You can make them in any color you like, and with any material, though I love velvet. Trust me on this one, you won’t regret it. Follow this tutorial to make the easiest no-sew bows ever.

Tools and Materials:

  • Velvet ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Clip

Cut your bows

Take your velvet ribbon and cut it into three pieces. You can play around with the dimensions, but the measurements I like to use are 1.5”, 6”, and 10”.

Fold the middle piece

Take the 6” piece and fold the two ends into the middle. Use your hot glue gun to glue it down. I find the best way to do this is to glue both ends together in the middle and then put a dot of glue on the inside and press the glued ends down onto it.

Fold the 10” piece

Now take the 10” piece and fold it in half. You want the velvet side to be facing outward on both of the tails, so when you fold it tuck one under so that you end up with both tails facing the same direction. Hot glue the fold in place.

Glue pieces together

Now you’re going to glue those two pieces together. Place hot glue on the back of the 6” piece, where the ends meet and press the folded part of the 10” piece to that spot.

Add the small piece

Take the 1.5” strip and place it in the center, wrapping it around both pieces. Then glue it in place in the back. Trim off any excess.

Add your clip

Put some glue on the back of the bow and press your clip into place.

Finish your DIY bow
Trim the ends

Snip the ends of your tails, just to make sure they’re even. I like to cut them at an angle to make them look cleaner and cuter.

That’s literally it! I told you it was easy. Guys, I’m obsessed! These are so stinking cute! My daughter looks absolutely darling when I put these on her, but as I said, I would totally wear these myself in a low ponytail. I may or may not have made one in every available color — I’m not ashamed. This project could not be any easier, so I know you’re gonna try it out! Show me your bows in the comments!
