Create a V

To get started on this amazing new shirt, I used chalk and a ruler to draw a V where I wanted to add my lace-up piece. I then cut the fabric, following my markings, and made sure not to cut the actual neckline. A great tip is to try on the shirt before you start cutting to make sure you are happy and comfortable with the piece!

Measure the eyelet trim
Attach the eyelet trim

I measured my eyelet trim to match the V and laid it down making sure I had an equal number of holes on each side of the V. In this step I made sure to leave an extra hole on each side! Once I was sure about the placement, I pinned the eyelet trims down.

Women’s lace-up shirt

With everything in place, I sewed down the eyelet trims. To get a nice clean finish, which I love, I sewed the trim onto the collar as well.

I then tucked the two extra holes inside the shirt and sewed them together.

Thread the lace

I thread my lace through the holes in the trims until I got the desired look! This part is so much fun because you can really create your own style!
