Before you get started on this awesome headband let’s talk about fabric! For this exciting project, you will need two pieces of fabric 47 by 18 cm and a smaller piece 28 by 8 cm. I chose to use this super cute, black, and white floral fabric. Get creative with your color choices and fabric design to suit your aesthetic!

Fold the fabric
Fold over the fabric

Start by folding all 3 pieces in half and sewing closed the open side of the pieces, opposite the fold.

Press the fabric
Press the fabric

Once your pieces have been sewed, press down the fabric to get the pieces nice and flat. This always helps make the fabric a little easier to work with!

Next, fold in the ends of the strips to about 1 cm. Press the folds down to help keep them in place.

Add elastic
Thread the elastic

It’s time to add the elastic! Take a 15 cm piece of elastic and attach a safety pin to one end. Thread the elastic through your smallest fabric strip. Once your elastic is through, pin both ends of the elastic to the fabric, to hold it in place and stitch closed the two ends.

In this step, fold over one of the bigger pieces of fabric. Place your elastic piece in the center on the one side of the fabric.

Next, fold the two side flaps over the elastic piece and pin them in place.

Thread the fabric

Take the third piece of fabric and pull it through the loop you just created.

Sew together

Attach the elastic piece to the other side by repeating the same folding you did earlier. Pin it in place and then start stitching the elastic and fabrics together.
