Face masks are now an important part of our everyday lives. If you are ready to learn how to DIY a no-sew, no-elastic, and no-pattern face mask this tutorial is definitely for you! All you need is a pair of old leggings and an old T-shirt to get started on these incredibly easy to make face masks. Follow my step-by-step guide and get DIYing your own new face mask.

Tools and Materials:

  • Leggings
  • T-shirt
  • Scissors
Cut a pair of leggings
Cut a piece of fabric

To make this incredible no-sew mask you can use any pair of leggings or stretchy T-shirt sleeves. I decided to use this pair of leggings and started by cutting a section out of the leg.

Cut off the extra fabric

Next, I made sure the piece I had cut was straight by snipping off any extra fabric sticking out.

Fold in the raw edges

I then folded in the raw edges at the top and bottom of my piece of fabric.

Cut a fabric strip
Make earloops

It was then time to move on to earloops. I cut a long strip of fabric from a knit fabric t-shirt. Since there is no elastic used in this face mask, it’s great to use stretchy fabric for the earloops. I folded my strip in half and cut at the fold so that I would have two strips of fabric.

Feed it through

I took my strip and fed it through the side of my piece of fabric. Once it was through I pulled, gathering the mask fabric and tied a knot at the two ends, creating an ear loop.

Turn the earloop

I pulled the loop so that the knot would be in between the mask fabric. This would keep my ears feeling comfortable and add to the aesthetic of the mask. I repeated this on the other side to make a second earloop for this awesome mask.

This mask was so simple and easy to make and is just so comfy! I love it! You can also insert a filter inside the mask before you wear it.

Cut the fabric

For this next no-sew, no elastic mask I cut the mid-leg from a pair of stretchy leggings.

Cut slits

Next, I cut two slits on each side of the fabric and folded the top bits of the fabric inwards.

Make small holes
Make small holes in the fabric

I double folded the fabric flaps on each side and made small incisions so that I would have a few holes on either side of the mask.

Thread the strip
Make earloops

It was then time to thread through some more stretchy fabric. I made sure the flaps were folded once over and thread another strip of T-shirt through the holes.

Tie knots

I then tied a knot at the end of each strip to create earloops.

Add a filter

For the final step, feel free to place a filter inside the mask for a little extra protection.
