How to sew a skater dress
Cut the fabric

To get started on putting this amazing dress together, cut out the half-circle skirt from your fabric. I have chosen this gorgeous floral print fabric but feel free to choose any stretch fabric you like for your new skater dress!

Cut out the bodice

Once your skirt has been cut out it’s time to move on to the bodice. Cut out both the front and back pieces for the bodice.

Pin the back bodice
Make the bodice

Next, take the two back pieces and pin the middle seam together. Once the back has been pinned in place, sew along your pinned line.

Sew the front and back together

Now it’s time to sew the bodice of this stunning dress together! Place your front piece on your back piece, right sides together. Pin the pieces in place and sew along the sides.

Sew the shoulders

While you’re busy with the bodice, make sure to also pin and sew the shoulder seams!

Short skater dress

With the bodice pretty much ready, it’s time to move back to the skirt of this awesome skater dress. Make sure to flip the bodice right side out!

Sew a center seam
Sew a center seam on the skirt

Pin and sew the center back seam of the skirt. Just a few more steps and this stunning dress will be ready!

Line up the seams
Attach the skirt and bodice

Insert your bodice into the newly sewed circle skirt making sure the fabrics are right sides together. Line up the center back seam of the skirt with the center back seam of the bodice.

Pin around the edges

Pin the edges of the skirt and bodice together at the waistline. Hop on over to your sewing machine and sew the two pieces to make your new dress!

Hem the dress
Give it a perfect finish

This last step will give your stunning new skater dress the perfect finish! Hem the neckline, shoulders, and of course the bottom of the skirt.
