Wet your tracksuit
Wet your tracksuit with hot water

To get started on this absolutely amazing DIY, wet your white tracksuit with hot water. You want the fabric to be damp and not dripping with water.

Prepare the squeeze bottle

Next, fill up your little squeeze bottle with hot water. Make sure to leave a little bit of space in the bottle for the dye.

Add dish soap

Before you add the dye, go ahead and add a little bit of dish soap to the water. This really helps the colors blend more, creating the desired effect for your new tracksuit. I would suggest adding 2-3 drops of dish soap.

Add the dye

Next, it’s time to add the dye to the squeeze bottle. Use a teaspoon to make your measurements more precise. I added two different shades of blue to my mix. Add two teaspoons of the darker color and one of the lighter shade. Once the dye is added, give the bottle a little shake.

Test the color

Before you can move on to adding color to your tracksuit, test the color by squeezing some onto a tissue. Keep in mind that once you wash the tracksuit, the color will become a whole lot lighter, creating that gorgeous pastel effect.

Scrunch up the tracksuit

To create the gorgeous cloudy tie-dye effect, you need to simply scrunch up the tracksuit fabric.

Scrunch the fabric

Start by scrunching up the first leg and when you reach the waist, tie it with an elastic band. Then you can repeat this scrunching technique on the other leg. Don’t worry about this being perfect because the tracksuit will look stunning regardless.

To make sure the middle section of the pants is scrunched, add an elastic over the whole piece of fabric.

Repeat the same scrunching technique for the top of the tracksuit.

Now it’s finally time to start dyeing the tracksuit. Start pouring the dye solution over your tracksuit. Try and cover all the visible white areas with the blue dye.

Place the tracksuit in a plastic bag
Leave in a plastic bag

Once your dye is on, leave the tracksuit in a plastic bag for 8-12 hours. The longer you let the dye sit, the darker the shade of the dye will be.

Rinse the tracksuit

Once the dye has been left to sit for long enough, remove the elastic bands and rinse your tracksuits under a tap. Then pop your tracksuit into the wash for a long 40-degrees celsius cycle.
