As the weather starts to get cooler, many of us reach for long sleeves. A button-up shirt is a great long-sleeve option while still looking classy. It can get boring wearing the same outfit every time, though, and sometimes you just want to mix things up. In this tutorial, I’ll show you six different ways in which you can style your button-ups, all using the same shirt.

How to style a button-up shirt
Tuck it in

Gotta start with a classic. Tuck your button-up into a pair of jeans and leave the top unbuttoned over a camisole. Roll up your sleeves to above your wrists to show off some bracelets, and don’t forget to pop that collar!

Tie the bottom

This next outfit is the same as the one before, except this time you’re going to tie the bottom of the shirt in a knot instead of tucking it in. It’s such a small difference, but it’s a totally different style; you’ll be looking fun but still put together.

Unbutton it

A great and easy way to style your button-up is to wear it open over a contrasting-colored camisole. Tuck the cami in and leave the button-up out for an effortlessly casual look that’s sure to keep you comfortable.

To change up the previous style a bit, all you’ve got to do is tie the bottoms of your shirt. You’re still showing off that contrast in colors and you’ll be rocking a chill vibe. With this fun and casual look, you’ll be ready to hit the town.

Layer it under a sweater

Did somebody say, “cozy?!” Button up your shirt and tuck it in, then throw your favorite sweater on over it. Fold the cuffs of your shirt over the cuffs of the sweater, and fold over the collar at the top. You’ll be looking warm and put together, but most importantly cozy!

Style a button-up shirt
Wear it as a middle layer

When it gets cold enough that you need a jacket, wear your button-up as a middle layer. All you’ve gotta do is tuck the shirt, unbuttoned over a contrasting-colored camisole, into your pants, then throw a jacket on over it. Fold the cuffs and collar of the shirt over the cuffs and collar of the jacket to finish off this stylish look.

As you can see, there are so many different ways to style a button-up shirt, so don’t be afraid to change things up!
