I adore recycling vintage things and tableware china and pottery make great jewellery items. I chose the centre of a vintage floral designed tea plate that has a sweet floral bouquet. Charity shops and garage car boot sales are great place to find these.

Sanding the sides

I cut the piece I like out from the centre of plate with wheeled tile nippers and then sand the edges smooth with a mini hand held drill with Sanding carbide stone attachment.

I wear protective goggles and after 5 minutes of work it’s nice and smooth .

Sanded wdges

Next I also sand the back of the china brooch to create a good surface for the brooch pin to be glued onto.

Sand back

I prepare epoxy resin in equal parts then mix well and it gives a few minutes of working time.

I spread the glue onto the sanded area on back of brooch and also spread some into the blank brooch pin which has little holes in it to help with fixing process.

I leave to set hard Undisturbed for an hour and then it’s ready to wear!
