Make slippers

Cut the materials

To get started, trace a shoe onto a foam piece of fabric.

Use as a template

Use that first piece as a template to cut out a few more. All together you will need 6 pieces of fabric, 3 for each slipper.

Next, cut out two pieces of strong interfacing using your shoe template.

Layer the materials

With all the pieces you will need, cut out and ready, it’s time to start layering. Place down one piece of foam. Then add the layer of interfacing, followed by two more layers of foam.

Measure the top

Make the top piece

Moving on to the top, felt layer for the slipper, measure and check to make sure you are happy with the top part of the slipper so that it will fit you comfortably. Mark and cut to get the perfect piece.

Clip it on

Clip the four bottom layers of the slipper together so that they don’t move around. Then you can clip the top piece of felt onto the bottom of the slipper. Make sure that the edges of the top piece line up with the edge of the bottom.

Mark where it ends

Mark on the bottom piece where the top of the slipper ends.

Trace for the second slipper

If you are happy with the piece, unclip it and use it as a template for the second slipper.

Sew the slippers

Copy the markings you had made onto the other slipper so that they will be symmetrical.

Clip the pieces together

Now you can clip together the bottom layers and clip on the top piece as well for each slipper.

Sew the slippers

With everything clipped in place, sew the slipper together. Start on the edge of the top piece and make your way around the slipper until you reach your starting point.

Add hot glue

Make the bottoms non-slip

A nice little trick is to use hot glue on the bottom to make the slippers anti-slip.
