Refashioned Ruffle Strap Ogden Cami

If there was a game called “refashion everything into an ogden cami” I think I would win! It’s just such an easy pattern to refashion from other garments. It requires very little fabric and is very hack-able, two characteristics that are great for refashioning.

It was time for this dress to go. I’ve had it forever, and it wasn’t even new when I got it. The underarms were becoming discolored and the eyelet was ripped in several places (from little puppy claws). But I just love eyelet and the cute trim on the bottom plus the ruffled straps, I was having a hard time tossing her into the donation bin. I felt like there was more to love here.

I decided to try to salvage her by doing some refashioning and of course the Ogden was the first thing to pop into my head. A sweet little eyelet top would be perfect for summer. I had do be careful to avoid various holes, and I wanted to use the eyelet trim on the bottom. So I just cut my ogden from the bottom of the dress, getting as much length out of it as possible. I did the same for the lining and the straps I just cut off and re-used as-is. Since I was using the original hems the whole thing came together quite quickly.

This top has gotten a lot of wear this summer! I dont wear a lot of white but its nice to have something simple like this with a lot of feminine details to throw on with a pair of shorts or skirt.

This is my 5th ogden (3rd refashioned ogden!) and It’s taken me this long to realize I think I need a narrow shoulder adjustment, as the straps on all of them tend to want to slip off. I thought it was a strap length problem but I didn’t want to raise the under arms by shortening the straps. Then it hit me one day that there was probably an actual adjustment for this problem! So next time i make an Ogden (cuz you know this won’t be the last) I’ll be sure to make those adjustments and let you know how it goes!
