A closet staple most women have is a black bodycon dress or a bodycon dress of some sort. I know I have 3 (for now): black, burgundy and grey. Bodycon dresses are one of the easiest dresses to style multiple ways. For casual day trips to work wear or even date night/wedding. I love them and when I can find one for a great price, it makes it even better. The dress I am wearing in these photos is from Walmart and I got it for under $17. If I wear it 5 ways, it would cost me $3.40 per wear! UMMMM YES!!! Even though the title says "5 ways" I have actually swapped out the shoes in each look which would give you 10 options on how to wear this dress! [please note most of these are "winter" styled looks as it is cold here in NJ.] icon

Let's start with a basic look. How can we take a black bodycon dress and wear it grocery shopping or to our kid's activities? Add a chambray top! In the photo below, I have added the chambray top in two ways and swapped out my shoes. Tying the top around my waist brings the sophistication of the dress down so to keep the simple look, I paired it with some sneakers. This look is perfect to wear to a kid's activity. You can also wear the top over the dress and tie it to add some definition to your waist as well as cuff the sleeves a bit. This look is still casual enough for errands or kids activities so to stay with that look, I paired it with my favorite leopard flats!

Another casual way to style the bodycon dress would be to add a sweatshirt over the dress. By adding the sweatshirt, now the dress looks like a skirt and you can really make your styling options with your shoes endless. I did add a belt under the sweatshirt so I could tuck the sweatshirt into it otherwise it would be too long. In one look, I decided to add sneakers and a beanie for a more causal look and then a fun pair of leopard booties to add a bit of fun.

Another layering option would be to add a sweater instead of a sweatshirt. As I did with the sweatshirt, I also added a belt with the sweater but here I let it peak through to add an extra element to the look. To keep it simple, I added black booties in one look and in the other some slides and denim jacket. Both of the looks work for the office or even date night (depending on the location).

For a specific work wear look, all I did was add a fun blazer and a leopard print belt. I really enjoy mixing patterns so a leopard print belt with a plaid blazer makes my pattern mixing heart happy! For one look, I paired simple black booties and the other black flats. Depending on your office or your comfort level, either look would be great to wear!

Now a simple date night look would be to throw on a simple, classic, neutral pea coat (it technically does not have to be neutral but I think the elegance of beige against black goes without saying). In one look I wore a pair of nude heels and the other over the knee boots. You can also add a statement necklace for even more sophistication or pop. This look would even be great for the office (again depending on your comfort level). If I wore it to the office, I would probably make sure to bring a shawl/scarf to wear over my shoulders.

These looks can be achieved with any bodycon dress you have in your closet, you would just need to find the right colored accent pieces to go with it. I hope you found this useful and can't wait to see if you try any of them yourself. If you want to see something styled, please message me. I would love to help you.
