Add a little something to your at-home wardrobe with this surprisingly simple DIY for an on-trend beaded bar necklace!
I absolutely adore the organic look and delicate feel of these necklaces. They make a great finishing touch to any outfit and are so light I barely even notice that I’m wearing a necklace at all. Plus, I love the pop of color from the center bead. It’s so customizable, you can totally fit it into whatever season or color palette currently making up your closet right now.
You can purchase these materials anywhere craft supplies are sold, like Amazon, Etsy, or your local craft store. To save some money though, I actually repurposed the hardware (chains, clasps, and jump rings) from a necklace I no longer wore. Before you buy anything new, take a dig through your jewelry box to see what you can give a new life to (and save some money in the process)!
Step 1: Using your wire cutter, cut 2 pieces of chain to your desired length (I made mine 9in / 23cm). If you are making your necklace adjustable, cut two pieces of your smaller chain 7in / 18cm, one piece of your larger chain 2in / 5cm, and another piece 3in / 8cm. Attach chains with jump rings to form 2 larger chains. Set aside.
Step 2: String your eye head pin. I chose to do 3 gold seed beads, 1 colored bead, then 3 more gold beads but you can honestly do whatever you want here!
Step 3: If needed, use your wire cutter to trim any excess from your eye head pin, leaving a bit at the end. Using your needle-nosed pliers, form the cut end of the pin into a circle to mimic the eye on the other side.
Step 4: Using your needle-nosed pliers, attach a small chain to each end of the eye pin. Be sure to crimp the openings closed with your pliers so your chain doesn’t slip off.
Step 5: Attach a jump ring joining the end of one chain to a lobster claw clasp. If necessary, add a jump ring to the other end of the chain to join.
That’s it! Now you have a beautiful, delicate necklace perfect for dressing up or down, depending on your mood.
