How to Find the Best Jeans for Your Body

Denim is an item that I feel most confident and most ME in. I would pick a perfect pair of jeans over anything else any day! As a denim lover, that means I’ve tried a LOT of jeans on in my lifetime. I’ve learned the styles and qualities I like best in a pair of jeans and I’m here to share the knowledge - after all, knowledge is power people!

Tips to Finding the Best Jeans Fit for You

Step 1: The first quality I look for in denim is the rise. I prefer only a high-rise denim. I choose high-rise because the waist then naturally falls at the smallest part of my torso. I personally feel a mid-rise ends up sitting at the widest part of my torso and in turn I look wider. When you are choosing your rise, find the one that will fit at the smallest part of your waist line and will help accentuate your natural shape.

Step 2: Sizing and overall fit is next on my check-list. The perfect pair of denim should fit snug but should also be comfortable and lay flat with no pulling or puckering. Every brand has it’s own sizing guidelines so if you have never worn the brand before it may take trying on a couple different sizes to find the right one for you. For a quick trick if you’re shopping in person, take the denim and wrap the waist band around your neck. If the waist band fits perfectly around your neck, it’s likely your size!!

Step 3: The third and final step is choosing the style! My favorite styles are skinny, straight or wide-leg. In addition to that, we’re going to look at the wash. I personally love a vintage looking/inspired denim. That means I typically look for medium to light wash denim with some intentional wear to make them look more “broken in”. I love a little distressing or exposed button fly that makes the style feel a bit more retro.

Finding your perfect denim may take some searching and trial and error to find the style that fits you best. BUT, I’ve rounded up my FAVORITE pairs of the moment here in hopes to do some of the heavy lifting for you. Shop my picks here!

Planning on grabbing any of these styles? Take a pic and tag me when you do! I’d love to see how you style them. As always, head to the Shop page, follow along on the LTK  app or on Instagram and Pinterest for more.
