How to Wear This Year's Spring Trends

Spring is upon us and it's time for a seasonal shift in your wardrobe. Pack away your heavy sweaters and reach for something lighter and brighter. The looks dominating the runway for this season provide lots of new options for stylish mixing and matching. Here's how to wear this year's spring trends

Bubblegum pink and loose-fit jeans

Pink is always a great choice for spring. It brings to mind flower blooms and Easter candy. Pale bubblegum pink is a huge color trend for spring. Look for a delicate floral print or the softness of a cardigan sweater.

In case you haven't heard the latest from TikTok trendsetters, skinny jeans are out and loose-fit jeans are in. Baggy and straight-leg jeans were on the runways for this year. While I love the slim silhouette of skinny jeans, a more relaxed fit is way comfy, especially for warm days ahead.

Eyelet and long necklaces

The delicate floral cutout of eyelet materials seems to announce spring has arrived. You can team it over a colored item for little pops of color showing through or over something white for a more lacy effect. It's also flirty on its own, with hints of skin peeking out. I mixed a fresh white eyelet layering piece over a mossy green t-shirt dress for an earthy, almost cottage core look. Lace-trimmed socks coordinate nicely and ankle boots are ready for still-chilly days and spring showers.

Long necklaces with interesting chains and pendants are also in style. You can try layering long and short chains with charms that reflect your personality, as I've done here with an antique brass heart locket and aromatherapy diffuser pendant.

Bold print, florals and wide-leg pants

You can't dress for spring without some floral patterns. This year calls for boldness in bright colors and big prints. I paired this vintage 1970s bold floral shirt with wide-leg trousers, which along with loose-fit jeans are another trend for your bottom half. The mixed print of floral and stripes makes for a fun, head-turning look.

Now that you have some ideas for how to wear this year's spring trends, check your closet for what you have or do a little shopping for exciting new pieces. And don't be afraid to mix and match trends to create some new looks as fresh as a budding flower!

Delightful open blouse & belted look: I have a similar eyelet piece (a repurposed table runner) that I fold in half lengthwise, drape around my neck, dip low against my shoulder bones, & belt the ends in front.

Hi Margo. Thank you for your comment. That's a great idea to use a table runner. I"ll have to try that! :)
