I love to recycle unwanted or broken items and breathe new life into things so they can be loved again this large pin was screaming out for decorating with some vintage china and beads!

Brooch pin & beads

The fixings I use are silver metal jump rings and to open these and close the best tool is a pair of round nosed pliers. I decide on which colours and pieces look good together and colour blend well for this brooch.

Threading ring onto moon bead

I open the jump ring and push it through the pre drilled hole in a Tagua nut moon bead, however you can choose some recycled beads you already have from unwanted jewellery or buy some new ones ( charity shops often have mixed bags of beads for low costs)

Threading beads

I use a blend of big and small red and green, long and short. This is to give balance and some different materials bring texture. I’ve used glass nut ceramic and vintage ceramic tea cup china rose piece which I’ve pre drilled with a mini hand drill but you can glue a bail or ring directly to the china as an easier option.

Attaching the rings onto the pin.

I choose the final pieces where I feel best hang with a colourful flow of interest.

Adding the beads

There are so many combinations that this is definitely going to have a few varied versions and I like that you can style and change the beads to go with your outfit!

    TY for this!

While in the past I have used the pin that is designed for beading, it was great for me to see that jump rings can be used to hang beads on the “back bar” of a regular pin.

I’d skip the pin and place them on a large/medium round circular ring and put them on a matching chain! It would make a great necklace!
