If you are in the process of building a capsule wardrobe, or perhaps your body has changed and you need to basically start your wardrobe from scratch, then you probably want to know the basic essentials that every woman needs to suit all occasions.

Here are 5 wardrobe staples to help you get started this Spring.

A floral dress is an essential throughout the year but particularly in Spring. On cooler days, you can make it weather-appropriate with opaque tights, boots and a leather jacket, and on warmer days wear it with sandals and a sunhat.

Florals are of course a favourite in Spring because you match so well with the natural beauty around you!

A pair of light-coloured boots, either knee-high, over-the-knee or ankle-length, are exceptionally useful in Spring. It's tempting, when the weather grows warmer, to put your boots away and bring out the summer shoes but we're not quite there yet. There will still be rainy, chilly days when boots are exactly the footwear you need. However, wearing them in a lighter colour such as cream, blush pink or on-trend lilac will make them feel more seasonal and not like you've stepped straight back into Winter.

A cardigan is another Spring staple which is a particular trend in 2021, because after a year of not doing much and wearing comfy clothes, we are absolutely loving cardigans. Spring is a time for layering and cardigans are not only cute and stylish but very practical for the unpredictable weather this time of year.

You may have noticed that sunglasses are featuring in all of these photos so far and of course that's because they are another important Spring wardrobe staple. Adding a pair of large, dark sunglasses instantly adds a celebrity flair to any outfit and makes it look more elevated.

One wardrobe item that is synonymous with Springtime is of course the trenchcoat. This is the perfect layering piece for a transitional season and is an utterly timeless classic. There are plenty of options available on the high street. Camel or stone are great colours for Spring and definitely essential but it's also nice to have trenchcoats in a few colours since they're so versatile. Remember to pick up one that's rainproof too!
