How to Create a Pretty Vintage Crockery Bracelet
I have a love of using vintage crockery and transforming it into jewellery that’s unique as well as pretty. Instead of the china being stuck in back of a cupboard or going into landfill why not give it a go?
Best mini sander!
I use a piece of pretty floral china and cut it down to a smaller piece using wheeled tile nippers. Wearing safety goggles to protect from the china chips flying around.
Then by drawing around the centre of bracelet as a guide size and shape I get to nibble and sand the ceramic away.
Soon the piece begin to take shape and nearly fits the bracelet.
I use a mini sanding wheel to grind the excess china away. Best to wear face mask while working as quite a lot of china dust.
I also sand the back of the china to give good surface to help when I glue it.
Then I mix a two part epoxy resin glue. A pea sized blob of each and mix well with spatula. As it hardens quickly the preparation work has to be fast too. I put some into bracelet and some also on the back of the china piece.
Holding it firm for a few minutes to make sure it’s stuck.
I'm so thrilled with final result.
Enjoyed the project?
