DIY Bow Shoe & Tutorial

Wedding season is, hopefully, just around the corner. It has me digging through my closet and once again agreeing I have nothing to wear! Since all the shops remain closed, we have to get creative with our wardrobes. Currently, I'm loving the bow shoe trend. This DIY bow shoe tutorial really transforms a broken in favorite by adding a little pizzazz. I used these comfy shoes from White Mountain Shoes to create the look. They also have an amazing elastic strap that keeps the heel on my feet with pinching (highly recommend!). The best part about this tutorial isn’t just the shoes – it is that you can easily peel off and replace before the next event.

This DIY bow shoe tutorial was really fun for a variety of reasons. One, it is so versatile. While I used cotton, you can easily sure lace, tulle or a silk scarf depending on the style. The second is – you guessed it – this tutorial for bow styles is super easy.If you love this tutorial, you’ll love this upcycle for this nautical knot shoe. Add a little preppy knot to create the perfect beachy look here.

Materials for DIY Bow Shoe

  • Fabric (read below for dimensions)
  • Sewing Machine (optional)
  • Fabric Glue
Directions

Step one: Measuring your fabric: The length of your fabric should be the width of the shoe x 2.5. The width should be (if covering a strap) the show strap width x 1.5.

Step two: Sew your fabric, right sides together, down the length of the fabric. Flip right side out and press. Then sew raw ends to finish.

Step three: Cover your shoes straps with fabric glue all the way down to where the shoe touches the heel. Place the midpoint of the fabric onto the middle of the show strap.

Step four: I used fabric clips to create a firm seal. However, pressing to secure for about 1 minute should create a firm bond.
