1. Section off the hair by your ear

Start by making a part, starting by your temple and pulling it back.

Sectioning off hair

Make a parallel part just above your ear, and gather this section of hair between your temple and the top of your ear.

Pull the rest of your hair to the other side.

2. Make a fishtail

Ensure that this section is knot-free and ready to braid. Then split the hair into 2 equal sections.

Starting with the front section, take out a small bit of the hair.

Cross it over the inside section.

Then incorporate it into the outside section.

Repeat this with the outside section: separate a small strand of hair, cross it over and incorporate it into the other section.

Pull the hair in each hand to tighten the X.

Continue making these X’s to create a braid.

3. Secure and add volume

Secure the end of the fishtail braid with a hair elastic. Then pinch and pull at the sections to add volume to the braid.

4. Make an identical fishtail braid

Repeat this entire process with an equal amount of hair, in the same place on the other side of your face.

5. Make a ponytail

Collect your hair into a high ponytail, leaving 1 of the fishtail braids out.

Secure the ponytail with a hair tie.

6. Wrap the ponytail

Take the loose fishtail braid and wrap it around the base of your ponytail to hide the hair tie.

Wrap the end in place with another hair elastic.

Adjust the hair at your crown, as needed, to add and even out the volume.

Note: if your hair is not as long, you can stop the fishtail braid once you reach the back of your head.

Then just tie it off there and start a new fishtail braid once you collected all the hair into a ponytail, from the tail itself.
