Quick Understitch Tutorial for Sewing Beginners
Here, I’m going to show you how to do an understitch if you want to keep your lining on the inside of your garment.
Grab your fabric and sewing machine, and let's get started!
Tools and materials:
- Fabric
- Lining
- Sewing machine
- Iron
1. Sew fabric and lining together
Place your fabric and lining with the right sides together and then sew them, leaving a half-inch (1.3cm) seam allowance.
2. Press flat
Proceed to open up the seam and iron it flat.
3. Sew fabric
Line up the presser foot with the seam line and sew 1/8th of an inch away.
It will look like this.
Quick understitch
This will keep the lining inside and ensure that it won't show from the outside and it won't roll out of place.
I hope you found this quick understitch tutorial helpful and that you’ll give it a go for yourself at home. Let me know how you get on in the comments section down below.
