Learn How to Make a Super-Cute Mask Chain

I was getting so tired of losing my masks or folding them into my pockets so I decided I had to come up with a solution. I let my creative juices flow and made the most awesome mask chain out of costume jewelry. If you want to learn the ins and outs of this amazing DIY, my tutorial is definitely for you. Follow my simple, step-by-step guide, and learn how to make your own mask chain. Losing another mask just isn’t a worry with this DIY project.
Tools and materials:
- Costume jewelry necklace
- Jump rings
- Jewelry pliers
To make these awesome chains, I used costume jewelry necklaces. To measure the right length, I put the necklace on and used my thumbs to mark the length I wanted for my new chain.
Next, I used my handy jewelry pliers to pull apart the section I don’t need from the chain.
I had a chain extension and I just wanted to use its jump ring. I removed the jump ring from the extension.
I then attached the jump ring onto the end of the newly shortened side of the chain. I repeated the same process on the other side of the chain.
Lastly, and for the easiest step, I opened the rings and attached my mask to the gorgeous, new mask chain.
I just loved my first chain so I decided to recreate it using a different necklace. I think it's easier to use a necklace with details that can help act as markers for where to cut and it of course adds to the aesthetic. I cut the chain to the length I wanted for my mask chain.
For this necklace, the jump rings were a little bit too small so I had to add new clasps before I could attach the jump rings to the chain.
I love that this piece is both functional and fashionable. What other fun mask chain ideas do you have? Let me know in the comments below!

I had an old lanyard similar to yours and used small safety pins to attach it to my mask. Your idea is a much cleaner look but I'm not good with wires.
What a great idea! No forgetting the mask! You could even color coordinates the mask and necklace, and the an incredible gift that would be definitely appreciated and used!! Thank you!
