I love all things self care. Trying different masks, soaks and scrubs is something I enjoy. There are SOOOO many different scrubs you can buy in the store but did you ever think about making them at home?

I have experimented with making different ones and the two I'm sharing are a body & lip scrub I personally love and use regularly.

*PLEASE NOTE*

As with anything on the internet, please use your own judgement. Do not use if you have allergic reactions to any ingredients suggested.

Himalayan Pink Salt Body Scrub

  • 1/2 cup Fine Himalayan Pink Salt
  • 2 TBSP Coconut Oil
  • 1.5 teaspoon Honey (optional)

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

  • 1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 TBSP Coconut Oil
  • 1.5 teaspoon Honey (optional)

Grind 1/2 cup of pink salt.

You can buy pink salt that is already finely ground, and I normally have that to use, but this time I used what I had in my cabinet.

*HIMALAYAN PINK SALT is a great exfoliator. Salt scrubs refresh your skin by buffing away dead skin cells and promoting circulation.

I used organic coconut oil and microwaved it for 30 seconds.

Once heated and liquified, I poured it over the salt.

*COCONUT OIL is also a gentle exfoliator and will wash away impurities, unclog pores and leave your skin soft.

Then I measured out the 1.5 tsp of honey and added it to the salt and oil. Mix with a fork until well combined.

*HONEY is a natural antioxidant and helps keep acne away, due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps open up pores and can help get rid of blackheads.

Once it was mixed well I immediately put it into a small mason jar.

The Brown Sugar Lip Scrub is the same exact method as the salt scrub. Just swap out one ingredient and you have a totally different scrub.

Heat up your coconut oil as we did previously and pour over the sugar. Measure and add your honey to the mix.

Mix well.

Again, once combined immediately add to a mason jar or container of your choice.

Make sure your scrubs are put into a sealed container for storage.

I love these Ball Jars. They are 8oz half pint wide mouth jars and the perfect size for each of these recipes. They also make great gifts!

HOW TO USE:

Himalayan Pink Salt Body Scrub

Apply in the shower after wetting your skin, in a circular motion. It can be used 1-3x's a week depending on your skin sensitivity.

It can also be used as a face or foot scrub. Again wet skin before applying and rinse when finished.

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

It can be used for just your lips or be applied to your full face. As a face scrub, on dry skin use 1-2x's a week and for oily skin 2-3x's a week. As a lip scrub use it 1-3x's a week. Wet your face/lips with warm water and apply using small circular motions. When finished rinse with warm water.

The scrubs will store for a month at room temperature. I store both scrubs in my medicine cabinet and take them into the shower with me.

Thank you! You explained the making of the scrubs very well and even mentioned the one month expiration date. I have all of the ingredients in my kitchen!
