How to Make Homemade Chamomile Soap

This recipe is easily adaptable – feel free to experiment with different essential oils or add some finely ground oats for mild exfoliation.

Makes 4 bars of soap

Supplies:

• 1 lb goat’s milk melt and pour soap base
• 1 tbsp chamomile tea (approximately 2.5 packets of tea)
• 1 tbsp dried lavender buds
• 10 drops lavender essential oil
• 15 drops chamomile oil
• Microwave safe measuring cup with spout
• Wooden craft stick or spoon for stirring
• Soap mold
• Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol (optional)

Directions:

Cut the soap base into 1 inch cubes and place inside the measuring cup, then heat on high in 30 second intervals, stirring between each heating session, until fully melted.

Allow to cool slightly, then add the essential oils, tea, and lavender buds. Stir well.

Once the soap batter has cooled quite a bit, but not set at all, then pour into the mold. This way a lot of the tea and flower buds will stay put instead of floating up.

Spray the soap mixture with rubbing alcohol if desired to get rid of any bubbles.

Allow your chamomile soap recipe to set for about 2 hours, then unmold.

It’s always a good idea to keep your soap out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources, as this can cause it to degrade more quickly. Store at room temperature. Chamomile Soap has a long shelf life and can be stored for up to six months.
