Step 2: Measure & Cut Shorts
First, pull the pockets out of the shorts so you don’t accidentally cut them. Next, mark spots about 3-4 inches below the crotch area on each pant leg. Then, draw lines straight across each leg and cut slightly below the lines. Now you’ve got your shorts!
Step 3: Measure & Cut Sleeves
You can definitely choose to leave the sleeves long, but for this outfit, I wanted the top to have short sleeves. If you’d like short sleeves, mark out points about 8 inches from the shoulders at the top of each sleeve. Then, mark spots about 4 inches from the armpits at the bottom of each sleeve. Connect the points with straight lines and cut slightly outside of the lines, creating your short sleeves!
Step 4: Crop Hoodie
Draw a straight line right above the pocket and then cut along the line, creating the crop top.
Step 5: Fold & Iron Shorts
Double-fold the bottom of each side of the shorts to your desired length (my folds were about 1 inch wide). Then, use your iron to make sure the folds are nice and crisp.
Step 6: Fold & Iron Sleeves
Do the same thing to the sleeves of the hoodie. Double fold (about 1 inch wide) and iron the folds to smooth the creases.
Step 7: Glue & Secure Folds
Now, take your fabric glue and dab it along the inside edges of every fold, making sure that they securely stick down so you don’t have to worry about the shorts or sleeves unfolding. Leave it to dry for a few hours and you’re all set!
All done!
That’s all there is to it! Now you have this cute crop top hoodie and shorts set for less than half the price of many similar outfits available in some of the most popular retailers (they shall go unnamed for now lol).
