Tools and materials:

  • Hair ties
baggy dress

Hack 1: Baggy dress? No problem

To fix that dress that just doesn’t fit, you’re going to need two hair ties.

Place one on your back in the area where you want your dress to be tightened, and hold it in place with one hand beneath the fabric.

Flip the fabric up and tie the other hair tie around the previous one.

Fixed!

This trick accentuates the waist and adds a pretty cool design to the back. Better a belt hack with a hair tie than an actual belt cluttering the look.

Hack 2: Boring top? Let’s change it up

To spice up that simple top that’s just not stylish enough, start by gathering all the extra fabric to the front and tying it off with a hair tie.

Flip the extra fabric up and tuck the ends into the hair tie to create a cute little makeshift bow.

Cute, right? I recommend trying this on all your tops! It’s a great way to get a new look without spending money.

Hack 3: Belt too long? Easy fix

Long belts can ruin an outfit. Luckily, I know a belt loop hack with a hair tie you can do. Simply grab a clear hair tie - or one that matches your belt - and pull it on the belt.

Now wear your belt as normal, but use the clear hair tie as the loop.

Tada! Now your belt lays flat even if it doesn’t reach the loop.

Hack 4: Jeans bunched up in your boots? Let’s remedy that

Sometimes your jeans and your boots just won’t work together no matter how hard you try, and that’s okay. Jeans are finicky like that. To fix it, wrap a hair tie around the bottom of your jeans to help hold them in place.

Put your boots back on, and they’ll slide on easily. No bunching!

Hack 5: Oversized sweatshirt? No big deal

Is your oversized sweatshirt too big and not fitting you right? All you need to do is take each end of your sweatshirt and tie a hair tie around it.

Then, just tuck it under!

Hack 6: Sleeves won’t stay up?

bunched sleeves

A bunched sleeve is the look - your sleeves just aren’t getting the memo. To remedy that, just grab a hair tie and tie it around where you want the bunching to end.

Adjust the bunch until it looks right and the hair tie is hidden, and it’ll never slide again.
