In this tutorial, I'll show you how to turn a summer dress into fall outfit. Transitional outfits can be difficult to style. During that time between seasons, we have no idea what the weather will throw at us, and as such, we don’t know how many layers we should be wearing.
This tutorial is here to make it that bit easier for you. I’m going to show you five summery outfits, and we’ll take a look at how you can transform them into fall wear.
1. Add a layer underneath
First up, we have this long sleeve bodycon mini dress. In warmer weather, you can wear it how it is with a pair of flats or sandals.
When the weather gets colder, you can easily layer up by adding a shirt underneath. Have the cuffs and collar peeping out for a little bit of trendy detail. A pair of boots will not only look stylish, but will also keep your legs nice and toasty.
2. Add a layer on top
Here we have a floral summer dress with a gorgeous v-shaped neckline. This dress is perfect for the summer.
To transition this piece to colder weather, simply pop a cream jumper over the top. To keep the look flattering, tie the sweater at the waist and then tuck the knot under to make it a bit more fitted.
3. Add a jacket
Next up, we have a lightweight short-sleeved shirt dress in a sort of beige green color.
To transform this into fall wear, add a leather jacket that will keep you warm and make you look good. Then, of course, you need to accentuate that skinny waist of yours by adding a belt to cinch you in.
Finally, a pair of booties complete the look and, combined with the leather jacket, gives off biker girl vibes.
4. Add a blazer and boots
Here we have a stunning white tent dress with spaghetti straps.
To make this dress fall-ready and elevate it at the same time, add a smart blazer. There is nothing quite like a blazer when it comes to taking an outfit from zero to hero. My blazer is fitted, but I’ve added a belt to give my silhouette even more definition.
Also, a pair of over-the-knee boots are a no-brainer when it comes to fall dressing. They will feel like a second skin and also look extremely trendy.
5. Choose how you want to style your dress
Last up, I’m wearing a gorgeous sweater dress, and for something a bit different: I’m going to show you two ways that you can style it in the fall. The first way is just by wearing it as it is, which gives off a relaxed feel. Pair this with sneakers for a laidback, everyday look.
To make it look a bit more feminine, grab a skinny belt to add some definition to your waistline. A pair of nude heels in a similar color to your skin tone will almost appear invisible and will help to elongate your figure.
For very cold days, you could easily layer a pair of tights or skinny jeans underneath.
