How to Master Belt Layering

Want twice as much fun in your style? Try wearing not one belt but two! Double belting or belt layering is one way to add interest to an otherwise simple outfit – and make use of some accessories in your closet that need to get out more.

Just like layering jewelry (necklaces, bracelets), double belting lets you express your style and be the bold maximalist you were born to be.

Supermodel Bella Hadid was photographed in the look a few months ago and caused trendspotters to jump on the style sensation.

Check out your closest and see what belts complement and contrast each other that you could stack on. Got two different styles or colors of belts? Try mixing them together.

Here are some ways to master belt layering.

Classic Edgy Look with Double Belts

Ever since James Dean wore jeans and a white t-shirt on the big screen in “ Rebel Without A Cause,” the look has been synonymous with edgy style. You just can’t go wrong with it, but you can give it a new twist with double-belting. Jazz up your rebel look with black leather belts studded with silver hardware for a new twist on the classic.

Floral Dress with Double Belts

Add some more texture and interest to a feminine floral dress with double belts. I chose a vintage braided belt and paired it with a flower chain belt that both had brass metal hardware to complement this floral print shift dress with yellow and gold tones. You could also juxtapose a bold or edgy belt against a girly print to take a look to another level.

Western Separates with Double Belts

Have a little fun with a Western look by pairing two similar theme belts. I have a vintage western belt with tooled leather and cowgirl buckle, and I made it a double by adding a silver concho belt. This look can be a statement on its own, or wear it with a western shirt, swing skirt and cowboy boots for a western event outing.

Now that you know some ways to master belt layering, which one will you try?
