How to Wear a Square Silk Scarf With a Dress: 3 Stylish Ideas

Today, I want to show you how to wear a scarf with a dress.

I'm going to use one scarf to create three stylish different looks. I’m using a classic size silk scarf - 35x35 inches (89x89cm) - with a gorgeous print.

Let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • 35x35 inch scarf
Folding scarf

1. Necktie

To achieve a necktie look, first, fold the scarf into a band.

When it comes to creating the bad, you have two options. If you fold the scarf into a triangle and then proceed to fold it into a band, you will be left with a thick center of the scarf and thin edges.

If, however, you start off with the scarf as a square and fold each side in toward the center...

… you will be left with two sides of the scarf that are the same thickness all the way along.

Necktie

Put the scarf around your neck and form a half knot at the front.

This feels a little bit like a tie but is, of course, much more beautiful and elegant.

Necktie

I also like to wear it with the knot at the side of my neck like this for an asymmetrical look.

The long vertical band of the scarf draws the eyes downward and helps to elongate the figure.

2. Belt

Scarf as belt

The next way to wear a scarf with a dress is to make a belt. I like to make a knot near the end of the scarf, so I am left with one very long end and a shorter end that I can hide behind it.

3. Around the shoulders

Scarf around the shoulders

I also like to wear a scarf as a triangle around my shoulders.

All you have to do to achieve this look is fold the scarf into a triangle, fold it in half, and place it around your neck.

You can either wear it on your shoulders or slightly off the shoulders, as I’m wearing it here.
