3 Easy Ways to Style a Russian Shawl

Headscarves are both stylish and warm, and if you like wearing Russian headscarves, this tutorial is for you.
I will show you 3 ways to wear a headscarf shawl that are very easy to tie and very comfortable to wear.
I’m using a headscarf in a pattern called “Words of love”. But of course, you can express your own style with any headscarf pattern you like! And, if you prefer, you can use a smaller scarf than I use in this tutorial.
Tools and materials:
- 57 x 57-inch square headscarf
1. Side headscarf
Start by folding your headscarf into a triangle.
Tip: If you like, you can use a cotton under-hat like mine, to hold all your hair in place and keep it hidden under your headscarf.
Place the folded edge of your headscarf on top of your head, off-center so that it's longer on one side than the other.
Wrap the scarf to the back of your head and hold it in place with a hair elastic (essentially, you are making a ponytail with your scarf.)
Take the long tail of the scarf and hide the short tail inside it.
Fold the long tail around the hidden short tail a few times.
This will be the base for all three headscarf styles.
Now wrap the long, folded tail over the top and around your head.
Secure the tail of the head scarf by pulling it under the side of the wrapping.
That looks pretty glamorous! You can leave the tail hanging in front.
Or, you can tuck it into your neckline.
If you find yourself having to wear a face mask, you can even use the tail of your headscarf to hide the mask!
2. Knotted headscarf
Start with the base style of style 1.
Wrap the tail of your headscarf through the side band a few times to make a side bun or decorative knot from your scarf.
I think it actually looks a bit like a flower.
3. Twisted headscarf
From the base style, twist the tail of your scarf tightly.
Wrap the twist around your head.
Secure the end of the tail at the back of your head by pulling it through the twisted wrap.
You can leave the tail hanging at the front of your body.
Or, you can wrap the tail under your chin for some warmth, and tuck it under the front on the other side to keep it in place.
