What is Aritha Powder & Why Should You Use It On Your Hair?

Have you heard of Aritha powder? It’s an all-natural Ayurvedic product you can wash your hair with and has so many benefits.
I decided to try out this great product and I’m here to show you how to use it and what my results are. Does it really clean hair? Let’s wait and see!
What is Aritha powder?
Aritha or Reetha powder comes from the soapnut tree, which is native to India and Nepal. Aritha is a common ingredient in shampoos and conditioners because its natural foaming agents help wash the grease off your hair. It’s also great for skin, especially the sensitive kind.
Aritha powder benefits for hair
- Aids in hair growth.
- Helps thicken your locks and protect them from sun damage.
- Thanks to antifungal properties, it can treat scalp infections and reduce dandruff.
- Enriched with saponin and fatty acids, which help cleanse hair.
- Increases shine while also detangling hair without the need for a brush.
- It also apparently helps kill lice.
Tools and materials:
- Aritha powder
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Water
- Shikakai powder
- Hair clips
- Conditioner
- Towel
1. Mix the Aritha powder with water
Ok, let’s prep the Reetha powder. I’m following the box’s instructions. If you have long hair, put 4 teaspoons in a bowl. If you have short hair, add 2 teaspoons.
You can add 1 teaspoon of Shikakai, amla, or Ayumi powder if you want to add conditioning. This step is optional, though.
Now break up any lumps and add a little filtered water to make a smooth, runny paste.
Tip: You can also use Aritha powder as a rinse. All you need to do is to add more water to the powder, sift it, and pour it into a bottle.
2. Wet and massage your scalp
Go ahead and wet your scalp. Then, massage it to help lift the grease and oils. Because Aritha powder is pretty mild, it won’t really wash out oil-based hair masks, so keep that in mind when using it.
3. Massage the Aritha powder into the scalp
Now, gently massage the mixture into your scalp. I do have to say, it can get messy, and it’s a little hard to use. When you’ve applied the mixture throughout your hair, leave it for 5 minutes and rinse it out thoroughly.
Tip: Getting all the grains out can take a while, so be sure to rise well and take your time.
4. Condition your hair
Once the Aritha powder mixture is rinsed out, go ahead and use your favorite conditioner.
5. Style your hair
Now go ahead and style your hair the way that you usually do. I love using gel and scrunching my hair to get some definition and curls going.
Then, if you want some extra volume, clip your roots up and let your hair air dry.
Aritha powder hair tutorial
So, are you wondering if my hair is clean or not? My hair is…. Clean! Yup, it really is clean and feels great. I will definitely be using Aritha powder at least once a month to wash my hair and eliminate any grease and grime.
I do have to point out that I normally wash my hair with shampoo that doesn't contain sulfate, so perhaps this is why it came out so clean for me - who knows!
But I do recommend giving this Reetha powder a try! Good luck.
