How to Do Sexy Black to Red Ombre Nails at Home the Easy Way
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to do black to red ombre nails easily at home. This vampy look would be perfect for a night out or for Halloween! The gradient effect is quick and easy to create, and I’ll be showing you step by step.
Let’s get into it and transform our fingertips with a fun red and black nails design!
Tools and materials:
- Bright red nail polish
- Nail protectors
- Dark red nail polish
- Black or plum nail polish
- Sponge
- Top coat
1. Paint your nails bright red
You want to start by painting your nails bright red and wait for them to completely dry.
2. Apply nail protectors
Next, apply nail protectors around your nails to protect your cuticles. You could also use tape or something similar.
3. Apply nail polish to a sponge
For the best results, you’re going to want three different shades: a bright red (the same that you already applied to your nails), a darker red, and a black or plum color. The darker red is a transition color, so it really helps to blend the red and black ombre together.
Apply the colors to a sponge from lightest to darkest, overlapping them a little, so that they blend better.
4. Dab sponge on the nail
Dab the sponge on the nail gently, from lightest to darkest. I’m keeping the lighter color at the nail and the darker color at the tip. Remember to do this the same way round for all nails. Apply two coats to every nail.
At the very end of the nail, add a little more of the darkest color so that it’s more concentrated.
5. Apply a clear top coat
Apply a clear top coat to melt the colors together and give a clean finish. You can really see the difference between the nails with a top coat and the nails without, so don’t skip this step.
