5 Different Utility Vest Outfit Ideas

Column of Color

I think vests are always a great option to layer over a column of color. You could do this with any color. All black, all blue with jeans, all white like I did or seriously any color.

Let’s talk about the brooches I decorated the pocket with for this outfit. We have styled brooches many times on the blog.

They work so well on these heavier-weight jackets and vests. I also think if you’re going to wear them, it's fun to cluster a couple together. Wearing just one seems almost lonely. Go big or go home, right?

I also have been experimenting with more hair accessories ever since I blogged about it. Even though my hair is short, I find it’s a fun way to change it up. Or cover it. Or distract you from noticing that it’s a mess. Whatever you want to call it.

With Jeans

Of course, a vest goes with jeans. In a way, I almost created another column of color with this outfit except I added olive green shoes. It’s a casual outfit with a casual vest.

Yes, I had to wear some bling at the neck. One of my favorite ways to wear a statement necklace is with a casual outfit. It’s kind of a wonderful surprise when you look close.

Layered over a Sweater

I never used to think about layering a vest over a different kind of topper. Until we played around with layering jackets and layering a vest over a jacket. Now, I consider it a fun way to get more versatility out of every item in your closet.

So for part of this olive green vest outfit ideas post, I buttoned up a lightweight cardigan and threw my vest over it.

With a Skirt & Boots

The last of my green vest outfit ideas is with a casual skirt outfit.

I always love the taller boots with shorter skirts because it makes me feel more covered.

Since the rest of the outfit was muted, I added color with the accessories and purse.

I think vests can be so much more versatile than we originally think. For myself, I used to only think about them over a blouse, but now I layer them over so much more.

And if you have a jacket that you never really wear, you can always consider removing the sleeves and making it a vest. Just like I did originally.
