In this tutorial, I’m going to be talking all about coffee for hair growth. I’m going to show you how to make coffee oil for hair growth, how to use it, and tell you all about the benefits of coffee oil. Long and strong hair, here we come.

Tools and materials:

  • Ground coffee
  • Olive oil
  • Measuring spoons
  • Strainer
  • Bottle
Coffee beans

One of the main benefits of coffee in your hair is that the caffeine stimulates blood circulation to your scalp, in the same way that peppermint or tea tree oil does.

Coffee also promotes moisture retention and improves the absorption of products into your hair. So, when you put the coffee oil on your hair, it will help your hair stay moisturized for a long time as your hair will hold onto the moisture for a long time which is always good, especially for dry hair.

Caffeine also helps promote hair growth because it helps the structure of your roots which is amazing because sometimes things help the ends of your hair and the middle of your hair which is always great but if something helps the roots which is where the hair is growing from, then that is something that will definitely help your hair. It can restore hair growth, it can help promote more hair growth because if you’re dealing with a problem right from where the hair is coming out, the follicle area, then it will definitely help.

Nourished hair

Another benefit of coffee is that because of its black color it helps your hair maintain its color so if you have naturally dark hair, it will help you keep your hair nice and dark.

If you have light hair though, just know that this might affect the color of it and make it look a bit orangey. For those with light hair, it might be better to put some of the oil on your fingertips and massage it into your scalp rather than pouring it onto your hair from a bottle.

Another thing that got me very excited about this mixture is that coffee prolongs the anagen stage of your hair which means the hair growth phase before your hair starts to shed.

Combining the ingredients

1. Combine the ingredients

Put a pot of water on a very low heat and add three tablespoons of ground coffee (not coffee powder). Then add ¼ cup of olive oil and mix everything together. Let it simmer, you do not want it to boil and you don’t want it to burn so leave it on very low for about 15 minutes.

Straining the mixture

2. Strain

When that’s done and the mixture has cooled, you can pour it into a squeezy bottle, straining it as you do so. I used a spoon to pass the mixture through the strainer but you could also use a cheesecloth. The liquid will pass into the bottle and you can use the remaining solids as a body scrub if you like.

Applying oil to roots

3. Apply to roots

To apply, I sectioned my hair and then squeezed the liquid straight onto my scalp in every section, and then massaged it in. I did this while I already had deep conditioner on my hair, and only applied the coffee oil to my roots and not the rest of my hair. I then rinsed out the deep conditioner together with the oil.

I don’t understand how coffee retains moisture since all caffeine products are drying agents. Singers and voice patients are told to avoid caffeine (coffee, chocolate, etc) because it dries out throat tissues… so I’m confused here about how it can moisturize hair…
