Dita von Teese is the Queen of Burlesque, meaning she’s pretty much the definition of glam with the nails to match. If you’ve ever wanted Dita von Teese nails, you’re in the right place.


In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to get Dita von Teese-inspired nails so you can look just incredible with a little bit of red polish. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Red gel polish 
  • Gel base coat
  • Gel top coat
  • UV lamp
  • Dotting pe
Applying a base layer of gel polish

1. Apply the base

Start by applying the base layer of your gel polish on clean, dry nails. Then, cure your nails under a UV LED lamp for 30 seconds.

2. Make three dots along the half-moon of your nails

Put a drop of red nail polish down on some aluminum foil or other surface, then with a dotting pen, put three dots following the half-moon shape, or the lunula, at the base of your nails.

3. Fill in the rest of your nails

Use the pen to draw a line across the three dots and then fill in the rest of the nail with the nail polish, excluding the half-moon area.

4. Clean up

If your half-moon shape is a little messy or uneven, use a dry, clean brush or a tiny bit of polish remover to clean it up the line. Cure again for 30 seconds.

5. Apply a second layer of polish

Apply a second layer of red polish to your nails for a more opaque look. Cure for 30 seconds.

6. Apply a top coat

Apply a top coat on top of your cured nails. Cure one last time for 30 seconds.
