If there are two things that I love in this world it’s DIY gifts and the scent of lavender. Today, I am going to combine both of those to make easy DIY bath salts with a lavender scent, which you can either keep for yourself or use as a stocking stuffer or as little presents.

I got this idea when I went on an anniversary vacation with my husband. The hotel made a cute package for us and in it were these adorable and lovely smelling bath salts. It was such a romantic care package, I figured I could totally make this myself!

Tools and materials:

  • Sea salt
  • Lavender-scented Epsom salt
  • Bowl
  • Tablespoon
  • Airtight container or favor bags
Measuring a tablespoon of sea salt

1. Measure the salts

Pour three tablespoons of sea salt into a bowl.

Measuring Epsom salt

Pour three tablespoons of lavender-scented Epsom salt into the same bowl.

It smells so good!

2. Mix the salts

Mix the lavender Epsom salt and sea salt together.

*Tip: If you want to jazz up the look, you can add dried flowers and leaves to the mixture. I am not going to do this here because it can make a mess. The bath salts in the hotel care package had dried petals and after we were done taking a bath, the petals were stuck to the bathtub! It must have been difficult for housekeeping to clean up.

3. Add to a container...

If you are keeping the bath salts for yourself, pour them into an airtight container.

If you are giving the bath salts as a gift, fill favor bags with the mixture. Favor bags are super cute and romantic. They make the perfect gift packaging!

Yes! I am going to do these bath salts! I’ve done them before but had to have a liquid of some sort. Can’t remember the name of it. But this looks super easy! And I know just who to give them to! Thank you so much for the recipe and tutorial ‘

I have a huge bag of plain Epsom salt. Do you think grating a bar soap (I have Yardley London's English Lavender moisturizing bath bar) from Dollar Tree and incorporating with the coarse salt will work just as well? By the way Dollar Tree also has these big hard-milled plant based soaps by Shugar Soap works, my go to's are Oatmeal + Coconut and Oatmeal + Verbena Lemon.
