How to Make a Cute Drawstring Bag From Old Jeans, Step by Step

Tools and materials:
- Old jeans
- Small plate
- Pins
- Chalk
- Shoelace/string/ribbon
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Needle and thread (use a denim needle)
- Iron
1. Cut the jeans
Lay the jeans on a flat surface. We are only using the top and front of the jeans. Cut the entire back of the jeans through the waistband.
Cut the legs just below the crotch seam making sure you don’t cut through any pockets. You should be left with the full front panel of the jeans.
2. Round the edges
Fold the jeans panel in half. Use a small plate to round the edges at the bottom, then mark the rounded edges with chalk.
Cut the rounded edges.
3. Sew the bag
Pin the edges. Sew using a straight stitch around and a zigzag stitch at the ends. While the zigzag is optional, it strengthens the bag.
4. Finish the bag
Turn the bag so the right sides face out.
5. Press
Iron the bag flat.
6. Add the drawstring
Choose the drawstring. It could be a shoelace or ribbon. Hand-sew the drawstring on the side opposite the button, then thread the drawstring through.
