How to fill in eyebrows with a pencil

Fill in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil

Choose a color of pencil that most closely matches your natural eyebrow color. Star at the inside bottom corner of your eyebrow and use a soft light stroke to begin filling in the baseline of your eyebrow line.

Now, use small upwards strokes to continue filling in the inner corner of your eyebrow. These small upward strokes mimic the way eyebrows grow and give you the most natural result.

Continue to move from the inside to the outside of your brow, lightly penciling in the baseline and then filling in the strokes as you go.

Now move to the top of the eyebrow and go through the same process as you did at the bottom of the brows. This time, lightly pencil in the top line of your eyebrow and fill in the brow with small strokes.

Note that you are not adding size to your eyebrow but simply filling it in to make it look fuller.

Always follow the natural shape of your brow, but if the outside end of your brow is a bit too sparse, that is the spot where you might want to add a bit more.

Fill and fluff eyebrow

If your eyebrow pencil has a smoothing tip on the end opposite the pencil, then as you go along your eyebrow, you can use that tip to smooth out your eyebrow hairs.

This method leaves you with a very natural looking, but fuller eyebrow.

How to fill in eyebrows with eyebrow powder

Fill in your eyebrows with eye powder

This technique is very similar to the one used for the eyebrow pencil. But powder gives you a softer fuller finish than a pencil.

Use an angled eye brush to apply the powder. Start at the inner corner of your brow, filling in first the baseline and top line and then applying it to the entire skin surface beneath your eyebrow.

If your powder comes with two shades, use the lighter shade on the inside of your brow, mix the two shades together for the middle part of your brow and use the darker shade for the outside edge of your brow and for extending the tail.

Shaping eyebrow with a spoolie brush

Finish off the brow with an eyebrow shaping brush to ensure a nice even finish.

How to fill in eyebrows with eyebrow gel

Fill in your eyebrows with gel eyebrow makeup

Begin at the inner corner as you did with the other two methods. Because this is a gel, there is some drying time, so as you are lightly making the baseline of your eyebrow with an angled brush, you can use the brush to pull the gel upwards from the line into your brow.

Continue lining the bottom and top of your brow, pulling the gel up into the brow area. This gives you a guide for filling in the rest of your eyebrow.

Turn the brush sideways, and use whatever gel is left in the brush to make small upward strokes all along your eyebrow between your bottom and top guidelines.

Best way to fill in eyebrows for full brows

Add a little more gel eyebrow makeup to your brush and use small brush strokes to extend the tail of your eyebrow.

Using concealer underneath the eyebrow

Using an angled brush, apply some creamy concealer in small strokes right below the eyebrow baseline. This will cover any imperfections in your gel application or in your skin and will highlight your brow bone.

This technique gives you the most fully filled eyebrow look, perfect for a night out or a photoshoot.

Finding your eyebrow shape

Follow this guide for the right eyebrow shape

The inner edge of your eyebrow should be aligned with the outer edge of the bottom of your nose.

The top of the arch in your eyebrow should form a straight diagonal line if you were to draw one from the top of the arch, past the outer edge of your iris, and down to the outer edge of your nose.

The tail end of your eyebrow should fall at the top of an invisible line from the outer edge of your nose past the outer corner of your eye to the outer point of your eyebrow.

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions! I once had beautiful eyebrows but with age they are disappearing. Is there any chance you could recommend a specific brand for each technique? The choices are overwhelming and trying to find the right one expensive. Again thank you and have a wonderful day!

I have extremely sparse eyebrows. Your tutorials have shown me how to make them look naturally fuller and shapely. Thank you so much. My eyes have always been my best feature. Thanks to you, they are now framed beautifully!
