In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make Christmas tree hair! It’s the holidays: you have decorated the house inside and out, added reindeer antlers to the car, and adorned glitz and tinsel to every surface. Why not decorate your hair for Christmas to have Christmas tree hair?

Not just with a holiday-themed barrette or headband, but with a tree coming right out at the top of your head!

If you’ve got long hair, you can totally decorate and make your hair look like a Christmas tree. Let me show you how to make your hair into a Christmas tree!

Tools and materials:

  • Poster board
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Scrunchies
  • Bobby pins (lots!)
  • Sturdy hair ties
  • Christmas decorations
  • Water in a spray bottle
  • Mirror

1. Make a paper cone

The first step is to make a paper cone that will be covered by your hair. The height of the cone depends on your hair length.

Twist the poster board to a point, then tape the cone in place. Cut off the excess with scissors so you have a perfectly-formed paper cone. That’s the base of your tree!

2. Place your hair around the cone

This step sounds easy, but it may take several tries. Place half your hair to the front of your face.

Place the cone with one hand at the top of your head - not back at the crown - but kind of like where you would put a tiara.

3. Secure your hair around the tree

Lift your head up. Spray your hair with water if needed. Apply the other scrunchies and hair ties strategically to keep the hair going upward.

Securing the Christmas tree hair in place

Secure the hair using lots of bobby pins.

You are a riot and adorable. LOVE the tutorial video. When you do this for Christmas tie 2 ribbons to the cone and tie a bow under your chin or add a sturdy elastic thread from one side to the other to make a chin strap. The other thing you could do is add the cone to a sturdy headband if you don't want chin straps. Thank you for an extremely enjoyable project :)
