How to Make Fleece Fingerless Gloves in 3 Super-Simple Steps

How frustrating is it when you’re wearing gloves and can’t use your phone? DIY fingerless gloves are a perfect way to keep your fingers free and your hands warm. Here’s an easy tutorial on how to make fleece fingerless gloves.
Tools and materials:
- Fleece
- Pins
- Marker
- Paper or cardboard for the pattern
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Needle and thread (optional)
1. Make a fingerless gloves sewing pattern
Use paper and a marker or pen, plus your hand, to create a pattern. The glove length is the length of your hand from the wrist to the pinky tip. The width is across your hand to the base of your thumb.
Leave about 2 inches or so from your wrist to the base of the thumb and from the inside of the thumb towards your index finger. Mark about 2½ to 3 inches on one side for the thumb. Add a ¼ inch all around the pattern.
2. Cut the fleece
Figure out your fleece’s stretchier direction. Fold the fleece and lay the paper pattern horizontally on the fleece in its stretchy direction. Trace the pattern. Make sure to add the thumb space markings.
Then lay the pattern directly on top of your first tracing and trace the second pattern. Cut out the pieces and cut out the thumb marks.
3. Sew the fingerless gloves
Open the fabric. Fold over the top and bottom ¼ of an inch. Pin in place. Sew with a straight stitch. Make sure to backstitch at the beginning and end.
Fold in the thumb hole. Pin in place. Straight stitch just the thumb hole.
Fold the glove right sides together. Mark along the line where the thumb hole is. Sew those two seams, matching the thumb hole seam line. Trim the excess.
