How Best to Use Translucent Powder For Mature Skin

Easy

I have used translucent powder on my face for years. But I have a very specific way of using it, and I’m going to share that with you in this tutorial. It’s very simple, but leaves you with a soft, natural look, with an even tone and any discolored areas hidden. So, let’s begin!

Tools and materials:

  • Concealer
  • Translucent powder
  • Assorted makeup brushes

I'm using makeup from  Look Fabulous Forever, which is specially designed for older skin, but you can replicate the same techniques with your own preferred products.

Applying concealer with a brush

1. Start with concealer

If, like me, you know that you have some trouble spots on your face, even after applying foundation, then use concealer to help those areas look their best. Use a small makeup brush to dap your concealer smoothly on your trouble spots.

Using fingertips to press the product into the skin

Then, use the warmth from your fingertip to push the concealer into your skin. Do not drag the concealer along your skin to spread it.

2. Now it’s time for translucent powder

Use a small fluffy makeup brush and apply translucent powder over the spots you treated with concealer, to set the concealer. The translucent powder will make your concealer stay put all day long and enhances the work of the concealer in hiding any discolored areas on your face.

Applying translucent powder with a large brush

3. Translucent powder for shiny skin

If you have slightly oily skin that makes your face a bit shiny, or you just want to make your makeup a bit softer looking, translucent powder will give you a nice finish. Stroke a large fluffy brush over your translucent powder to add it to the brush, and then make large light strokes with the brush all over your face.

The point of this translucent powder application technique is to keep the powder really light and avoid any caking of the powder. I hope you try this technique and are as pleased with the result as I am.

I look really young for my age and just have a little gray hair coming in. BUT, my dark circles really age me. I'm going to try this trick. Thank you!

You look lovely and I can use some work. Lol. I like these ideas very much. Is the powder loose or in a compact?

    Thanks very much.
