How to Make a DIY Essential Oil Bracelet (Bug Repellent)
I like to diffuse my essential oils, but sometimes I don't want to because of animals or other people in the room or I want to take my oils with me when I leave. I made this cute boho beaded bracelet to use as an essential oil diffuser.
The wood beads absorb essential oils. When the oils evaporate, they release the scent for aromatherapy. This is an easy DIY essential oil bracelet that you can use over and over again for a personal passive diffuser.
You will need wood beads and hemp cord to make the bracelet. I made mine as a mosquito repellent bracelet, so I used 1 drop lemongrass, 5 drops eucalyptus, and 4 drops citronella to make a blend in a 5 ml bottle to use. Note that if you add oils while you're wearing it, then you might want to learn how to make a roller bottle and add the oils that way so you don't get undiluted oils on your skin.
Start by cutting the hemp cord. I cut mine twice as long as it needed to be to wrap around my wrist twice plus a few inches. Then I laid the wood beads out how I wanted them.
Then tie a knot about 6 inches from one end and string the beads. Tie a knot on the other end to hold the beads in place.
You can tie a knot and wear it. I wanted it to be adjustable, so I made a loop on each end, leaving a little tail.
Then slip the tail inside the loop on the opposite and end tighten the loop. Now it's adjustable.
Add 1-2 drops of essential oils to the wood beads. The scent will linger for several hours. You can then add more oils (be careful not to get them on your skin). If needed, swish the bracelet in half water and half vinegar to clean off residual oils.
