Make Your Own Necklace With Beads and Velvet
You can make your own necklace so easily and what I love is that you can customize it and make it exactly the way you want it.
I chose to make a necklace using some wooden beads I had left over from another project and some velvet ribbon that I found this week. Velvet is all over the place right now and I love it so I’ve been looking for ways to use it.
Supplies Needed to Make Your Own Necklace
- wooden beads (I used 1 inch beads but you can change up the size. Just make sure that your ribbon can go through the hole in the beads.)
- velvet ribbon
- scissors
Steps to Make Your Own Necklace
Step 1: Cut a 54 inch piece of ribbon. You can see how long the finished necklace is in the photos. If you want it to be longer or shorter then adjust this measurement.
Step 2: String your beads onto the ribbon. Slide them down about 13 inches from one end. Tie a knot.
Step 3: Tie a knot at the other end of your beads.
Step 4: Line up the two ends of ribbon. Tie them in a knot.
Step 5: Then tie them into a bow. You may need to fuss with it a little to make it look nice… I know I had to work with mine a little to get it to look how I wanted it to look.
And you’re done!
If you have any difficulty with the bow part then google some bow tying tutorials to try to get a little help. There’s a ton out there that are very helpful. If you’re a visual learner like me then the video tutorials on youtube might prove to be the most helpful.
If you make your own necklace using this tutorial please let me know how it goes or if you have any questions in the comments below.

Very cute! I haven't worked with beads before. Thank you for explaining that your beads are 1 inch size. That detail helps a lot. :)
Loved this! I made 2 necklaces after seeing your clever idea! Thank you!
