DIY High Waisted Palazzo Pant Set

Everyone knows that two-piece sets are all the rage right now! Follow this simple, step-by-step tutorial and sew a gorgeous, palazzo pant and puff sleeve top set. This DIY will have you walking around in a fashion statement outfit in no time!
Tools and materials:
- Fabric
- Pins
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Elastic
- Safety pins
- Sewing machine
Cut the fabric
Begin by folding the fabric in half and then in half again so that there are four layers. For this project, I suggest using a stretchy fabric.
Use a pair of pants you already own that fit you well and place the folded pair, on the fold of the fabric. Then cut around the pants using a 1-inch seam allowance.
Fold each pant leg right sides together and pin the sides ready for stitching.
Next, fold the fabric for the top over twice so that there are four layers. Then place a folded T-shirt along the fold with the neckline on the other fold.
Cut around the T-shirt leaving some seam allowance.
For the sleeves, free cut or use a marker to mark before you cut.
Open up the top. Pinch the neckline and fold the top in half. Then measure 3-5 inches and cut to extend the front neckline.
Pin the sides of the top, right sides together, to get it ready for stitching.
Sew the pants
Begin by stitching the side of each leg using a zig-zag stitch.
Turn one leg, right side out, and insert it into the other leg.
Start by matching up the seams and then pin the crotch area together.
Then go ahead and zig-zag stitch the crotch area.
Add a waistband
Turn the pants, right side out, and measure the waist.
Then cut, on the fold, a 2-inch wide strip to the length of the waist, plus seam allowance.
Stitch the ends of the strip right sides together.
Fold the strip in half and then pin it onto the waist of the pants.
Then stitch the waistband in place using a zig-zag stitch.
Next, go ahead and hem the bottom of the pants.
Sew the top
Moving back over to the top, sew the sides together with a zig-zag stitch.
Add elastic to the sleeves
Create a fold on the sleeves, wide enough to insert an elastic band through. Stitch the fold, leaving a small opening.
Go ahead and cut two elastic bands. Attach a safety pin to one end and thread the band through the fold in the sleeve.
Once you have thread the elastic all the way through, tie the ends together twice or stitch them together.
Then make sure to stitch closed the opening.
Finish the neckline
To finish the neckline, take a 1-inch wide strip and pin it around the neckline, right sides together.
Then fold the strip twice and stitch close to the edge.
All that’s left to do is hem the top and the outfit is complete! This bold, palazzo pant set is just gorgeous! What color fabric would you use in this DIY? Let me know in the comments!
