If you’re a mom, like me, you probably have little time to get ready in the mornings. When my little guy is awake, there’s no more time for me to make myself look presentable.

But, I’ve perfected the perfect makeup look for moms and how to take it from day to night! Follow along with my step-by-step tutorial for this mom makeup routine.

Tools and materials:

  • Assorted makeup brushes

  • Beauty blender
  • Translucent powder
  • Eyebrow pen
  • Clear brow gel
  • Bronzer
  • Blush
  • Eyelash curler
  • Mascara
  • Lip gloss
  • Hairspray
  • Hair brush and comb
  • Scrunchie
  • Liquid eyeliner
  • Darker lip color
  • Purple eyeshadow
Applying foundation

1. Foundation

Apply your go-to foundation for an even base. I use my fingers to blend this layer in.

2. Concealer

Apply concealer to cover dark, under eye circles

Then blend it in with a beauty blender.

Don’t forget to bake under your eyes so that your concealer doesn’t crease and to help it stay all day.

I’m applying a translucent powder with the beauty blender.

3. Add color to your eyelids

For me, the hardest step to squeeze in on busy mornings is eye shadow. That’s why I love using this liquid color. I’ve chosen a rose gold shade.

This variety I love some much because you don’t need to use a primer and you can blend it with your finger.

It stays in place all day, and if I go out at night, I can just add to it. This shade is perfect for day to night makeup looks.

Brows

4. Get your brows just right

Use your favorite brow pen to fill in any gaps in your eyebrows.

Then use an eyebrow gel to keep them in place all day long.

5. Add bronzer

For the day-time look, I’m not going to do any major contouring.

Use a big, powder brush to add a bit of bronzer to my jawline and edges of the forehead..

Adding bronzer

The idea is to achieve a very subtle contour.

6. Apply blush

Apply your favorite blush tone to your cheeks.

7. Define your lashes

Curl your lashes if you like and then apply mascara to your top and bottom lashes.

I think I’ve perfected this entire mom makeup look in the time it takes my son to listen to the Sesame Street alphabet song.

Don’t forget to blend in your under-eye makeup!

8. Add lip color

Next, apply your favorite day-time appropriate shade of lip gloss.

9. Hair

Now that my makeup is done, it’s time to address my hair!

My go-to hairstyle when I’m in a hurry is a slicked back look.

Start with a middle part, then add hairspray to the front sections on either side of the part.

Styling hair

Use your hands to slick back the hair, guiding it in place.

Then twist a ponytail around to make a low bun.

Then wrap a ponytail holder or scrunchie around it for a simple but chic look.

This hairstyle works great for a night look as well!

Smooth away any flyaways with more hairspray and I feel like I’m presentable for the day look:

So, if it’s night-time and I have a girls night or a date, I don’t have to do my makeup all over again!

10. Add powder

Apply a bit of translucent powder over your face to refresh it for the night-time.

11. Apply eyeliner

Apply a liquid eyeliner to make your eyes pop at night.

If you prefer not to wear eyeliner, you can opt to just darken your eyeshadow color instead.

Applying eyeliner

Add a simple cat eye if you like.

12. Apply eyeshadow at the lower lash lines

Next, apply eyeshadow to follow your lower lash line.

I’ve chosen this gorgeous purple color, but you can choose any color you like.

13. Apply a darker lip color

For the night-time, apply a darker lip color.
