Washing face

My all-natural morning skincare routine:

1. Wash your face wisely

Start off right by drinking a glass or 2 of water. Then, wash your face with an oil-based cleanser to draw out impurities without stripping your face of its natural, protective oils.

I started making my own calendula oil facial cleanser. Wash with warm water to open the pores, then rinse with cold water. Pat dry with a clean towel.

2. Apply face toner

Follow up your face washing with a rose water, lavender or calendula hydrosol.

You can DIY this like me, or buy a natural product for a bit more money.

Spray it on your face, neck and chest and rub it in with clean hands. If stored in a dropper bottle, apply using a cotton ball.

3. Heal scars and blemishes

If you have any scars/blemishes you want to heal, apply fresh aloe vera gel (either straight from the plant or in popsicle form) directly to the skin.

Aloe vera

A component of aloe, called aloesin, helps reduce hyperpigmentation in acne scars as well as the overproduction of melanin, a darker pigment which makes acne scars noticeable.

The antibacterial agents found in aloe can help remove bacteria from the skin, helping to prevent pimples from developing.

Applying aloe vera

After applying the aloe, massage it into your pores. Allow it to soak in and dry naturally.

4. Apply serum

Cleansing and toner often dries out my skin.

My serum contains a range of anti-aging oils such as jojoba, almond, evening primrose, pomegranate, vitamin E, carrot seed, lavender and frankincense.

Apply a tiny amount to your face and neck.

Adding serum

That’s it for my all-natural morning skincare routine! I love how my skin feels afterward and I feel so awake, rejuvenated and ready for the day.

My all natural evening routine:

1. Dry brush and cleanse

Start by dry brushing your skin. I like to use a dual-sided cleansing and exfoliating fiber mitt.

Add water and gently scrub your face to remove impurities and buff away dry, dead skin cells.

Dry brush

To cleanse, apply cool water to the cleansing side of the scrubber and gently massage it all over my face and neck in small, circular motions.

Cleaning face

After cleansing, pat your face dry with an organic, cotton towel. Then follow up with the exfoliating side of the mitt.

Apply cool water to it and gently massage it in a circular motion. Then pat dry with the same towel from before.

2. Moisturize

My homemade face and body moisturizer contains apricot kernel oil, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, shea butter and lavender essential oil.

Dab a little bit of moisturizer onto your forehead and cheeks. Then gently rub it into your face, neck and chest.

Moisturizing

Diet is also key for long-lasting skin benefits. Aim for a diet that’s high in healthy fats and low in carbohydrates and sugars. This gives my skin a beautiful, natural glow.

Using a high quality, organic gelatin and collagen supplement is really important for plumping skin, as well as taking fish oil, magnesium and vitamin C powder to naturally boost collagen production.

Pricey facial products with collagen are pointless because collagen fibers are too large to be absorbed through the skin.

Commercially-made skincare products are typically harsh and drying on the skin. They can exacerbate skin issues over time, as the root cause isn’t being addressed. The gut can play a huge role in skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, eczema and more.

I have oily skin, so I’ve opted for nourishing products that don’t make my skin look greasy. You shouldn’t strip your skin of its natural oils.

They protect the skin from harsh elements such as the sun and wind. Without these oils, the skin would age much faster.
