Many of the body washes widely available contain chemicals such as parabens, BPA, triclosan, benzophenone-3, artificial dyes, phthalates, synthetic fragrances SLES, SLS, propylene glycol and more.

Our skin absorbs these irritants which can reach the bloodstream in as little as 26 seconds! They can cause allergic reactions, skin irritation, can be linked to fertility problems, can disrupt the normal function of hormones and can be carcinogenic.

Follow along to make a DIY body wash that contains 4 natural ingredients and nothing else. It’s gentle enough for use on the face and body and has a rich lather.

Tools and materials:

  • Glass pump bottle
  • ⅓ measuring cup
  • Raw honey
  • Liquid castile soap
  • Carrier oil
  • (Optional) essential oil of your choice
  • Spoon
  • Water

Tip: Opt for a glass pump bottle to store your DIY natural body wash since plastic containers can leach chemicals into the soap.

1. Measure and combine ⅓ c honey, castile soap and carrier oil

Pour ⅓ c of raw honey, liquid castile soap and a carrier oil of your choice into your glass vessel.

Carrier oil options include: fractionated coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, castor oil or sweet almond oil.

2. Stir

Next, stir the ingredients together slowly to avoid them bubbling up too much.

3. Add water

Once the ingredients are incorporated, top off the bottle with some water. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil if you’d like.

Close the bottle tightly and gently shake to mix everything.

Use this soap as you would any body wash. It will keep for up to 3 months at room temperature.

Just shake it well before each use as the ingredients will separate.

I love to use this natural body wash with a sea sponge or loofah for easy use.
